We have had the red metal version for many years. It does a great job of keeping our large house warm–so good we don’t even turn on the furnace unless it’s below 0 outside! And the furnace only runs as a backup to the stove. I love having the ability to cook and bake with it- putting a pot roast in a Dutch oven and setting it on the far side away from the firebox will give you a nice meal in a few hours. Have made cookies and pizza in the oven, maple syrup and caramelized sugar for flan on the cooktop along with many other things. Yes, dealing with the wood, ash, and dust of the stove is work, but having a far lower electric bill is handy!
